Day-by-Day Overview – Westfjords Wonders

  • Pick-up from your accommodation in the capital area and begin your journey to the Westfjords. Enjoy a scenic drive with optional stops along the way.

    Optional Museum of Icelandic Sorcery & Witchcraft

    Overnight: Drangsnes (2 nights)

  • Drive further north along the rugged Strandir Coast, or Krossneslaug for a relaxing soak. Explore wild beaches and untouched coastal landscapes before returning to Drangsnes.

    Overnight: Drangsnes

  • Continue your journey through the stunning Westfjords, with an optional stop in Súðavík to visit the Arctic Fox Center. Spot seals at Hvítanes before arriving in Ísafjörður.

    Visit Bolungarvík for breathtaking views from Bolafjall and optionally explore the Ósvör Maritime Museum.

    Overnight: Ísafjörður (1 night)

  • Travel through scenic fjords, stopping at the remote Selárdalur Valley to see its unique sculptures. Marvel at the impressive Dynjandi waterfall. Optionally, visit the Sea Monster Museum before continuing to Patreksfjörður.

    Overnight: Patreksfjörður (2 nights)

  • Visit the spectacular Látrabjarg Cliffs, home to thousands of puffins and other seabirds. Walk along the striking red sands of Rauðasandur Beach and enjoy the breathtaking coastal scenery.

  • Visit Flatey which is the biggest of the islands in Breiðafjörður. It also is the only island in Breiðafjörður where inhabitants live the whole year round. The inhabitants count as many as 6 persons but during summertime the population multiplies

  • Enjoy the final stretch of your journey as you drive back to Reykjavík, making scenic stops along the way.
