Our first stop is Hjálparfoss, one of Iceland’s most photogenic waterfalls. Two graceful cascades flow side by side into a serene pool surrounded by striking basalt formations.. The name Hjálparfoss means “Help Falls,” as this lush oasis once offered relief to travelers crossing the harsh Highland routes.

Step back in time at the reconstructed Viking farm of Stöng. This remarkable site recreates an Icelandic settlement from the Commonwealth era and offers a fascinating glimpse into everyday life over a thousand years ago. Explore the turf-roofed longhouse and discover how Iceland’s early settlers lived, worked, and survived in this dramatic volcanic landscape.

Next we visit the original archaeological ruins of Stöng before heading deeper into the valley to one of its most magical locations. Gjáin is a breathtaking oasis of lush greenery, winding streams, and delicate waterfalls hidden within ancient lava formations.

Háifoss is the third tallest waterfall in the country, plunging 122 meters into a vast canyon carved by the Fossá River. Nearby, the slender waterfall Granni cascades down the opposite cliff, creating a spectacular twin-waterfall panorama.

The journey continues to the enchanting oasis of Gjáin, a hidden valley filled with mossy lava formations, delicate waterfalls, and winding streams that create an almost fairy-tale landscape. Finally, take in breathtaking views of Háifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls, dramatically plunging into a vast canyon beside its neighbor Granni.
